McAfee family protection (MFP) is a lightweight, user friendly content filter app the parents control what their children in their mobile Web browser click. It does everything it claims and does it well, but it is not particularly high goal - especially given its price tag. You can the app free for 30 days, after which you will have to pay $19.99 for a 1-year subscription. MFP supports devices with Android 2.1 and later.
MFP performs three basic functions well, but could have a higher rating earned if the parental control took over further as many of its competitors.
MFP based blocks access to other browsers hook up mobile to your default browser and blocked websites on age group or a user-defined Liste.Es, so that the only browser available that is filtered.It is against removal.
These are all useful features, but they do not add up to much in comparison to other parental control apps, of which some much less cost. For example, to be beta Norton online family (free of charge) and PhoneSheriff ($ 49.97 direct) can you schedule time when calls are allowed. PhoneSheriff blocks certain applications and functions of the phone. Mobicip Safe Browser Premium ($ 9.99 / Year direct) forces you to use a safe search. Provides for a little more Security\r from Trend Micro Mobile for Android ($ 29.99 direct) parental controls and blocks phishing Web sites.
Blocking porn, gambling sites, social networking, and more
Setup in MFP is very simple. As an administrator, you can synchronize one for each child up to five mobile devices. (Start by you a user and his or her age group, either children (7-12 years), teens (13-17 years), adults (18++ years) or select custom (for which you can among 35 categories, such as "Gambling", "Dessous", or "Murder/suicide.") The function prevents access to forbidden sites based on age-appropriateness.
It blocks not actually search results, only prevents that a user by clicking on the results. If I have a after "Boobs performed" I search results saw Google search, I only in one of them could click. It would be nice if this app blocked other inappropriate apps, many of which are ubiquitous and free of charge download in the Android market.
Blocks access to other browsers
Once MFP is installed, you can only phone default Web browser. I hate the default browser on our test cell phone, which narrowed Samsung Captivate so I felt this function considerably from the experience with my phone. I would prefer that the app with all browsers or at least better part of third-party browsers, such as such as Dolphin Browser HD.
Resists uninstallation
This feature prevents your child log on uninstall of the app, by the Admin, customize all settings. Trust me, they are going to try to remove the thanks this standard browser lock-in-app.
McAfee family protection Android Edition is a decent, easy content filtering app, but other protection of the family, the apps that we've looked more for less than the MPF do $19.99 / year. Stay tuned: we will be more this mobile parental control will review applications in the near future.
